Trauma-informed education for legal and justice professionals

Foundations for Justice brings trauma-informed understanding into legal, justice, and public-service settings. The program helps professionals recognize how trauma, chronic stress, and adversity can influence behavior, communication, decision-making, and interactions with systems.

The program also looks at the professionals themselves. Working regularly with individuals experiencing crisis, instability, violence, poverty, or trauma can have an impact on those providing services. Foundations for Justice builds awareness of secondary trauma, stress responses, boundaries, and the ways a professional’s own experiences can influence interactions.

Through education, reflection, and practical tools, the program supports more effective communication, emotional regulation, de-escalation, and trauma-informed professional practice. Foundations for Justice can be adapted for legal services organizations, courts, law firms, government agencies, and other professionals working within legal and justice systems.
